What We Offer

BUDGET_slogan-7Beijing is an amazing city featuring both modern structures and traditional sights. Here is Beijing is an independent Foreigner and Chinese run tour club that offers specialized, budget tours around Beijing. It was started by Gerald and his team who are almost native Beijingers, when they realized how expensive and inconvenient the tour services in Beijing were. While there are many tour services in Beijing, anybody who has been on a tour or attempted to take a tour knows that you don’t always get what you want from it. Whether it be time limitations at the sight or “shopping” breaks for the tour guide to make a quick commission, it can be challenging to meet your standards.

the-wild-wall-slogan-2We are committed to planning budget tours based around small groups of friends and family to offer the best Chinese cultural experience possible. We hope to make your journey one of a kind by providing a comprehensive tour of the city, passing along any information we gather. We provides an opportunity to gather authentic, in-depth explanations and to visit many sites not commonly seen by tourists. Sometimes history is best felt with your feet; so we highly recommend a hiking tour along the Wild Wall.

tickets-booking-slogan-2We can also help you book tickets of flights, train, acrobat show, Kung Fu, Peking Opera and hotels reservation.

Make it easy for yourself. Book your round-trip transfer shuttle service before you arrive in Beijing.

You will be met at Beijing Airport (the driver will greet you at exit with a sign) and driven directly to your hotel. Singles, couples or groups, your ground transportation needs can all be covered by this airport shuttle service.

Upon your return simply meet your driver in the foyer of your hotel at a prearranged time to be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.

The service offers the experience of veteran drivers, with a minimum three years’ professional driving experience and English-speaking staff will greet you when you clear airport customs.

When booking your services, you will need to advise your flight details (Flight numbers and times) and your Beijing accommodation details (Hotel name and address, phone number, etc.).

China is now the number two economy in the world, behind the USA. Despite the kudos and money this brings, it doesn’t seem to equate to a better quality of life. In a recent survey, Beijing only ranked 72nd in the list of the world’s most liveable cities.

In the survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Vancouver took top spot. Scoring 98% on a combination of stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. Melbourne was second and Vienna, third out of the 140 cities it ranked.

Interestingly, none of the other world’s capitals and major financial cities appeared in the top twenty 20. London was 53 and New York 56, with the highest placed Asian city, Osaka at 12. Hong Kong was the highest placed Chinese city, with Beijing a long way behind.

I haven’t seen the full report, but based on the EIU ratings below I would assume Beijing falls somewhere in the middle. Negative factors for Beijing would include; over crowding, pollution, lack of healthcare facilities, corruption and the worsening traffic congestion.

80-100: There are few, if any, challenges to living standards
70-80: Day–to–day living is fine, in general, but some aspects of life may entail problems

60-70: Negative factors have an impact on day-to-day living
50-60: Liveability is substantially constrained
50 or less: Most aspects of living are severely restricted

Let’s hope that being the world’s second largest economy will have a positive for the average Chinese person. Gradually helping to improve the quality of life and living standards in it’s cities across China.

[Exuberant DJs, horrendous traffic jams and secret underground cities form part of our TV tour of China's magical capital]

Yes we went to the Great Wall, but we also went to some places many locals don’t even know about, thanks to some knowledgeable friends.

We discovered hutongs, homebrew and a whole load of history.
